Petition
Most of the waste in our general (black) bin is marked with the recycling logo. This includes many plastic and polystyrene wrappers for which there are no recycling facilities in Rother. At the same time the council is looking to make a landfill site in Ashdown Brickworks which is beside Highwoods which is a designated site of natural beauty. I propose that urgent moves should be made to increase recycling facilities in accordance with EU directives thereby reducing the demand for further landfill sites.
Background information
There is little waste that is not recyclable, plastics, polymer, polystyrene, are all recyclable. Cardboard is now only recycled in with garden waste. Many metals, batteries etc have no recycling facilities although all of these can and should be recycled.
